Security Engineer, Amazon Leo Security

Experteer Overview In this role you will build and enforce security across Amazon Leo’s end-to-end satellite broadband platform. You will partner with business leaders and builder teams to define security priorities, design secure-by-default solutions, and reduce long-term risk. You’ll drive threat modeling, security design reviews, and incident response, while nurturing a security-first culture across the organization. This is a high-impact, build-and-scale security leadership role in a fast-moving, startup-like environment backed by Amazon’s infrastructure. Compensation / Benefits * Establish product-specific security bar, threat models, and security priorities to guide secure execution across the business * Identify design and implementation defects and advise on difficult security decisions * Collaborate with leaders to define security priorities and act as trusted security advisor * Provide direction to leaders to make security easy and measurable, and assess org security execution * Guide teams toward secure-by-default outcomes and invent solutions where none exist * Leverage automation teams to identify vulnerabilities and advocate for new testing tools and detection mechanisms * Enable builder teams to be proactive on security and ensure proper use of security linting and static analysis tools * Mentor engineers to become security advocates and security engineers via 1-1s and office hours * Assist Red Teams with testing priorities and scope penetration tests * Investigate emerging security issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop preventive mechanisms * Propose and communicate a security vision that protects customers Tasks * 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar OO language * 2+ years troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating tasks via command line * Bachelor in STEM or 2+ years IT Security experience * Knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP) * Experience with security across SDLC phases (design reviews, threat modeling, secure code review, security testing) * Experience with AWS products and services (preferred) * Ability to communicate security concepts to non-technical stakeholders * Legal eligibility for export-controlled role (US citizen, permanent resident, or eligible refugee/asylum) Key requirements * health insurance (medical, dental, vision) * RSUs and sign-on incentives * 401(k) matching * paid time off * parental leave * flexible work hours
