Experteer Overview As Engineering Manager, you lead a small, highly capable team to deliver scalable, customer-facing software that supports property managers and residents. You shape technical direction and architecture while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture aligned with AppFolio’s mission to improve housing accessibility. You own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, driving on-time releases and design choices that scale across thousands of users. This role offers the chance to influence foundational systems in the Mixed Portfolio domain and ship meaningful SaaS products. Compensation / Benefits * Lead and coach a team of 5 engineers to foster a high-performance culture * Own the software delivery lifecycle, ensuring on-time releases and accountability * Collaborate with product and design to execute the company strategy * Set technical direction and evolve system architecture for long-term success * Manage software delivery using Agile, CI/CD, and test-driven development * Promote a SMART codebase for a SAFE product (Secure, Available, Fast, Easy) * Implement processes and metrics to keep products market-ready * Foster creativity, collaboration, speed, and engineering excellence * Ensure team alignment with AppFolio goals and company context * Maintain a fun, engaging team culture with daily standups and camaraderie Tasks * BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related technical discipline * Proven experience leading engineering teams through startup to mid lifecycle evolution * 2+ years hiring, directly managing, coaching, and retaining engineers * 5+ years designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale customer-facing products or platforms * Strong knowledge of Agile plus rapid experimentation and continuous value delivery * Proficiency in Ruby, React, and SQL * Exceptional interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration * High initiative, autonomy, and responsibility Key requirements *
