Job description

We are seeking a DevOps / Automation Engineer specializing in network automation to drive the programmatic deployment and management of our enterprise SD-WAN branch network. In this role, you will bridge the gap between network engineering and software automation-building automated pipelines, custom Python tooling, REST API integrations, and Terraform workflows to execute zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) across hundreds of remote sites. Key Responsibilities

  • Automate Branch Deployments: Design, build, and maintain automated workflows for staging, provisioning, and deploying large-scale enterprise SD-WAN branch networks.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, test, and maintain reusable Terraform modules and configuration templates for network architecture and policy enforcement.
  • API & SDK Integration: Write robust Python scripts and utilize vendor SDKs and REST APIs (e.g., Palo Alto Networks) to interact with SD-WAN controllers, orchestration platforms, and IPAM systems.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Development: Integrate network automation scripts into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) for continuous configuration management, validation, and automated testing.
  • Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP): Streamline the onboarding process for new branch hardware and virtual appliances to minimize manual configuration errors and speed up deployment times.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Network Architecture, DevOps/Automation, and Cybersecurity and Operations teams to translate traditional network designs into scalable, automated code pipelines.
  • Troubleshooting & Telemetry: Build telemetry, logging, and monitoring scripts to validate post-deployment branch health and automatically flag operational anomalies.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in network automation, DevOps, or enterprise network engineering roles.
  • SD-WAN Expertise: Hands-on experience deploying and managing enterprise SD-WAN solutions (e.g., Cisco Viptela, Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Versa, Aruba EdgeConnect, or Fortinet).
  • Python Mastery: Strong proficiency in Python for network automation, including working with libraries like requests, urllib3, netmiko, nornir, or vendor-specific SDKs.
  • API Management: Solid understanding of consuming RESTful APIs, working with JSON/YAML data structures, handling authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, API keys, tokens), and parsing response payloads.
  • Terraform: Demonstrated experience using Terraform (and relevant network providers) to manage infrastructure state, write custom modules, and execute automated plans.
  • CI/CD & Version Control: Proficiency with Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
  • Networking Fundamentals: Deep understanding of enterprise WAN architecture, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), IPsec/VPN tunnels, NAT, and DNS/IPAM services. Tech Stack
  • Languages: Python, Bash, HCL (Terraform)
  • Automation & IaC: Terraform, Ansible, Nornir, REST APIs, JSON/YAML
  • SD-WAN Platforms: [Vendor Name, e.g., Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, Palo Alto Prisma, Fortinet, Versa]
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Git, GitHub / GitLab, GitHub Actions / Jenkins
  • Data & IPAM: NetBox, Infoblox, or custom IPAM tools
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Network Verification tools (e.g., pyATS, Batfish) for pre-deployment testing.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking fundamentals (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, Transit Gateways).
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified DevNet Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Terraform Associate.
