Experteer Overview As a Digital Assets Web3 Engineer at Citi, you will design, build, and deploy Web3-native components for a global digital assets platform. You contribute to tokenization, on-chain settlement, and protocol integrations within a cross-functional team. You bridge decentralized patterns with enterprise-grade software, focusing on secure, scalable infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to influence Citi’s institutional digital finance capabilities and work on cutting-edge Web3 technology at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop, and deploy Web3 components and integrations (smart contracts, on-chain listeners, wallet integrations, protocol connectors) * Build backend services interfacing with public and permissioned blockchains (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger Besu, Canton, Solana) * Develop, test, and audit smart contracts (Solidity or equivalent) with security and gas efficiency in mind * Integrate Web3 libraries into enterprise Java and/or Node.js backends * Implement asynchronous, event-driven architectures for on-chain events and state synchronization * Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on scalable, secure Web3 infrastructure * Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards * Support custody integrations, tokenization frameworks, and DeFi/TradFi bridging components * Contribute to technical documentation (contracts, integration guides, architecture notes) * Stay current with Web3 ecosystem developments and emerging tooling * Work in Agile/Scrum, participate in sprints and stand-ups within a distributed team * Identify and resolve Web3 stack issues and escalate when needed to meet timelines Tasks * 10-15 years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundation * 3-5 years of hands-on Web3/blockchain development, including smart contracts * 8-12 years of backend development with Java/Spring, Node.js, or equivalent * Proficiency with smart contract testing frameworks (Hardhat, Foundry, Truffle) and security practices * Hands-on experience with Web3 libraries (Web3J, Web3JS, Ethers.js, Viem) * Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals (consensus, gas, wallets, key management) * Experience with token standards (ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, ERC-3525 or equivalents) * Familiarity with networks like Hyperledger Besu, Solana, Canton is a plus * Experience with asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) * Familiarity with DevOps, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD * Understanding of cryptography, digital signatures, hashing, PKI, and secure key management * Exposure to Layer 2 scaling and cross-chain interoperability is a plus * Experience in financial services or regulated industries is a plus * Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and distributed collaboration tools Key requirements * medical, dental & vision coverage * 401(k) * life, accident, and disability insurance * wellness programs * paid time off * paid holidays
