Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you design and build Web3-native components for Citi’s digital asset platform, enabling secure, scalable on-chain integration across tokenization, smart contracts, and settlement. You’ll work with a global, cross-functional team to evolve the CIDAP ecosystem and bridge decentralized patterns with enterprise-grade software. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge institutional blockchain use cases and a path to shape Citi’s digital finance capabilities. You will be at the forefront of a strategic platform with real business impact. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop and deploy Web3 components and integrations for Citi’s Digital Asset Platform, including smart contracts, on-chain listeners, wallet integrations, and protocol connectors * Build and maintain backend services interfacing with public and permissioned blockchain networks (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger Besu, Solana, Canton) * Develop, test and audit smart contracts (Solidity, DAML or equivalent) focusing on security and gas efficiency * Integrate Web3 libraries and SDKs (Web3J, Web3JS, Ethers.js, Viem) into Java/Node.js backends * Implement asynchronous, event-driven architectures for on-chain events and state synchronization * Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to design scalable, secure Web3 infrastructure * Participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards * Support integration of digital asset custody, tokenization frameworks, and DeFi/TradFi bridging components * Contribute to technical documentation (contracts, integrations, architecture) * Stay current with Web3 ecosystem developments and relevant protocol/tooling * Work in Agile/Scrum, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives in a distributed team * Identify and resolve technical issues across the Web3 stack and escalate as needed Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; MS is a plus * 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend foundation * 3-5 years hands-on Web3 and blockchain app development (smart contracts and protocol integration) * 4-6 years backend development experience (Java/Spring, Node.js or equivalent) * Proficiency in Solidity smart contracts, testing frameworks (Hardhat, Foundry, Truffle) and security best practices * Hands-on experience with Web3 libraries (Web3J, Web3JS, Ethers.js, Viem) * Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals (consensus, gas, wallets, key management) * Experience with token standards (ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, ERC-3525) and tokenization patterns * Familiarity with blockchain networks (Hyperledger Besu, Solana, Canton) is a strong plus * Experience with asynchronous programming, event-driven systems and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) * Familiarity with DevOps, containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD * Cryptographic concepts (digital signatures, hashing, PKI) as applied to blockchain * Exposure to Layer 2 scaling solutions and cross-chain interoperability is a plus * Experience in financial services or regulated industries is a plus * Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and distributed collaboration tools Key requirements * medical, dental & vision coverage * 401(k) with company contributions * life, accident, and disability insurance * wellness programs * paid time off including vacation and holidays * flexible/hybrid work options (implied by global team)
