Experteer Overview As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will analyze and secure embedded systems, including reverse engineering of firmware and drivers within telecom apparatus. You’ll develop tools and workflows to uncover vulnerabilities and support national cybersecurity efforts. You’ll work closely with hardware engineers in a technically rigorous, mentorship-driven environment. This role offers opportunities to publish findings and contribute to classified mission success while advancing your expertise through ongoing learning. You will make a tangible impact by improving the security and robustness of complex embedded platforms. Compensation / Benefits * Reverse engineer firmware, drivers, and telecom systems to uncover undocumented functions and security gaps * Perform firmware extraction, binary diffing, static/dynamic analysis, and hardware-assisted debugging * Collaborate with hardware engineers to access debug interfaces and inspect hardware state * Develop custom tools and scripts to automate analysis (e.g., firmware unpacking, protocol decoding, memory analysis) * Investigate edge-case behaviors and initialization logic to reveal attack surfaces * Document findings and translate technical results into actionable reports for security and engineering teams Tasks * US Citizen able to obtain security clearance * 5+ years embedded software development with reverse engineering experience * Proficiency in C, C++, and assembly for ARM, MIPS, x86, or RISC-V * Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, embedded Linux device drivers) * Understanding of embedded IPC (message queues, shared memory, semaphores) * Familiarity with SPI, I2C, PCIe, UART, memory-mapped I/O * Python3 scripting/automation * Disassembly/decompilation tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja) and debugging tools (GDB, JTAG) * Knowledge of embedded security concepts (secure boot, firmware encryption, hardware authentication) Key requirements * flexible time off * robust learning resources * healthcare and wellness benefits * retirement and financial benefits * parental and family support * continuing education
