Job description

Experteer Overview As a Sr Engineer - Java you will design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, security, and high quality code. You will mentor junior engineers and address systemic issues through root-cause analysis and architectural improvements. This role focuses on building integrated systems that support rapid delivery and scale across domains. You will partner with security teams to embed best practices early in development, making a meaningful impact on product quality and engineering maturity. Compensation / Benefits * Write tests and document technical work products according to standards * Solve technical problems and build impactful components/libraries * Deliver high-quality work and coach junior engineers on craftsmanship * Conduct root cause analysis and lead action items * Design integrated systems enabling speed, scale, and reliability across product domains * Oversee technical debt management and drive elimination opportunities * Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guide mitigation * Collaborate with security to incorporate security-conscious practices early * Evaluate technical risks and steer prevention strategies * Reflect on delivery practices and drive improvements with leadership * Identify and remove duplication of effort and pursue reuse * Measure team performance and identify development areas * Explore emerging technologies, prototype, and integrate them where appropriate Tasks * Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field * 5-7 years software development experience * Proficiency in Java with Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB * Experience with distributed caching, GraphQL, SOAP, REST APIs, NoSQL * OOAD, UML, and TDD knowledge * Web technologies including Java EE, Spring components, HTML/CSS/XML/JS, Angular/React * Service technologies: Java 1.8, Spring, REST/SOAP Web Services * Relational DBs and persistence: Hibernate/JPA/JDBC, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL * NoSQL familiarity (e.g., DynamoDB) * AWS and CloudFormation exposure * Caching tech such as Redis, EhCache * Messaging tech like Kafka and Azure Event Hubs * CI/CD tools: Maven, Jenkins, JUnit, Mockito, JBehave, Nexus, Chef, Puppet * Monitoring tools: Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Zenoss * Project tools: Jira, Rally, Confluence, Visio * OS: Windows, Unix, Linux * IDEs: Eclipse, RAD, Oracle SQL Developer, PuTTY, VS Code, RoboMongo * Testing tools: Postman, SoapUI * Agile methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, XP Key requirements * medical * dental * vision * 401K contributions * PTO * sick leave
