Senior Software Engineer (Mobile Backend-for-Frontend)

Experteer Overview In this role you will design and build scalable GraphQL BFF services that power Procore’s mobile apps. You will collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and product teams to define development standards and drive technical initiatives. You’ll apply distributed-systems thinking to balance immediate needs with long-term strategic goals, shaping backend architectures for high reliability and performance. Compensation / Benefits * Design and build GraphQL BFF services using Ruby on Rails, Node.js, and Java on AWS and Kubernetes * Collaborate with backend feature teams, infrastructure, and platform teams to set technical standards * Mentor teammates through code reviews, pairing, and guidance * Develop backend systems balancing near-term needs with long-term strategy * Enhance CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, ArgoCD) to accelerate deployments * Oversee testing, staging, deployment, and monitoring to ensure reliability * Work with Postgres, TypeScript, and evolving microservices architecture to solve complex problems Tasks * 5+ years of software engineering experience * Strong fundamentals, TDD, and system design * Professional experience with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Java; GraphQL or BFF/API-layer experience a plus * Experience with software, platforms, and infrastructure at scale * Familiarity with modern CI/CD systems * Ability to balance short-term and long-term goals * Experience working closely with mobile teams or iOS/Android development is a strong plus Key requirements * equity compensation * bonus incentive compensation * hybrid work arrangement * location-based considerations in Austin, TX * base pay range disclosed
