SQL Developer

This is a full-time Consultant role with Worldgate supporting our K-12 education client.

The SQL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise database solutions that support the client’s data integration, reporting, and system modernization initiatives. This role requires hands-on expertise in SQL Server database development, SSIS package creation, ETL processes, database optimization, and working with FOCUS student information systems to support large-scale operational and reporting environments.

The SQL Developer will work closely with technical and functional teams to support the migration and integration of data across multiple systems, including FOCUS and Postgres environments, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and overall system performance. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and complex SQL queries

· Develop and support SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and ETL processes for enterprise data integration and migration initiatives

· Design and optimize database structures to support operational, analytical, and reporting requirements

· Develop performance-optimized SQL code and troubleshoot database performance issues to improve efficiency and reliability

· Integrate and validate data from SQL Server, Postgres, Excel, and other back-end systems

· Collaborate with Developers, Database Administrators, and functional teams to support database development and system integration efforts

· Perform data validation, testing, and quality assurance checks to ensure the integrity and accuracy of processed data

· Troubleshoot and resolve complex SQL, ETL, and database-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions

· Document database structures, mappings, ETL processes, and end-to-end data flows to support transparency and maintainability

· Support DEV OPS deployment activities and assist with release and migration efforts across environments

· Participate in requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into technical database solutions

· Support ongoing enhancements and maintenance efforts for enterprise database and reporting environments

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered

· 5+ years of experience in SQL development and enterprise database environments

· Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced SQL programming, stored procedures, views, joins, indexing, and performance tuning

· Hands-on experience developing and supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and ETL processes

· Experience working with or migrating data to FOCUS student information systems and Postgres database environments

· Experience designing and optimizing relational database structures and data integration workflows

· Experience integrating and validating data from multiple back-end systems, including Postgres environments

· Knowledge of DEV OPS environments and deployment methodologies

· Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL best practices

· Ability to troubleshoot complex SQL and database-related issues and implement long-term solutions

· Experience documenting database structures, mappings, and data flows

· Strong attention to detail with experience performing data validation and quality assurance activities

· Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard business technologies

Preferred:

· Experience with API development

· Certifications in SQL Server, database technologies, or data engineering tools
