Job description

SQL Developer (Grand Circle, LLC; Boston, MA): The SQL Developer will work with every team involved with marketing communications, including Brand and Account Managers, Copywriters, Web Developers, Web Content Editors, and Video and Photo Editors. This role will develop solutions to maximize efficiency and accuracy across all teams by understanding business problems and opportunities. The Developer thrives in a fast-paced environment, recommending solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals of streamlining with automation and efficiency. Specific responsibilities include: Writing SQL scripts, viewing and storing procedures to be used by ETL processes and reports. Supporting web development and web content teams by preparing Marketing CMS data for consumption by Web platform. Assisting business users by analyzing data, generating ad hoc reports and training/helping with existing self-service reports. Creating front-end forms, SQL tables and relationships using our CMS application’s administrative tools to allow business users to maintain dataset. Writing ad-hoc queries in MS SQL Server Management Studio to support business requests. Supporting troubleshooting/testing and researching to determine root causes of issues including such areas as communication, process, training, system defects or other gaps. Evaluating and improving business systems and how they align with user needs. Analyzing data using a variety of techniques. Working with a dedicated project team in scrum style operations and occasionally working with other teams and business leaders. Performing data mapping and data translations. Ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, compatibility, and standardization. Providing internal system support for various departments, such as answering questions, fulfilling simple data requests, investigating and trouble-shooting system errors, escalating higher level issues and requests to IT team for resolution, analyzing support requests to identify root causes of issues, finding trends and propose process and/or system improvements. Telecommuting permitted.

Requirements

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Engineering Management or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience in SQL programming or Data Analysis/Analytics. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Engineering Management or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience in SQL programming or Data Analysis/Analytics.

Must have: SQL experience. Experience with MS SQL Server or Oracle SQL. Experience with technology development and production support. Comfortable working and communicating across operational areas and working in cross-functional teams. Professional knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and practices of operations research analysis to apply development techniques to analyze and optimize systems, processes, operational problems, and procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor communications based on audience and business objectives. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to leadership. Demonstrated project management and timeline management skills. Experience/proficiency in all MS Office 365 applications.
