Senior Software Engineer

DWP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the ongoing development and enhancement of a large scale AWS hosted data platform. Working within a highly secure environment, you will contribute to both live services and future platform developments, helping ensure the secure management and processing of critical production data.

As a Senior Software Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to: . Develop and enhance software solutions supporting a large scale AWS hosted data platform. . Work with production data, ensuring security, resilience and operational stability. . Support ongoing platform development and contribute to future product enhancements. . Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high quality, scalable solutions. . Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across applications and cloud infrastructure. . Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality and continuous improvement initiatives. . Support the design and implementation of secure data processing solutions.

Strong Java development experience . Strong Python development experience . Strong SQL skills . AWS cloud experience . Experience working with large scale data platforms or data focused applications . Experience using GitLab for source control and CI/CD . Understanding of secure systems and handling production data . SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

Desirable: . Apache Airflow . Apache Spark/PySpark . Experience working with AWS data services such as Amazon Athena, AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue or similar technologies. . Previous public sector experience
