Job description

Hybrid Working: This role will require you to work at our Newcastle, Cobalt Business Park office 3 days per week., We are seeking a Java Developer to join our engineering team delivering enterprise-scale solutions across a range of industries. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of Java Spring Boot microservices within Agile delivery teams and support the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions., * Develop and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices as part of a collaborative engineering team

  • Contribute to the delivery of technical features across the solution architecture
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Support technical leads with microservices design and end-to-end system integration
  • Apply development best practices including coding standards, branching strategies, and peer reviews
  • Contribute to Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Testing practices
  • Collaborate with test automation engineers to support functional and non-functional testing
  • Support troubleshooting, issue resolution, and continuous improvement activities

Requirements

  • Professional experience developing applications using Java
  • Developed microservices using Spring Boot
  • Worked in Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Background developing RESTful APIs and distributed systems
  • Experience in applying software engineering best practices including coding standards and version control
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to technical discussions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) or Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
  • Experience supporting end-to-end system integration
  • Experience working in fast-paced delivery environments
  • Experience contributing to estimation and technical planning discussions
  • Experience supporting non-functional testing activities
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline
