Job description

An established engineering and technology company is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to take a leading role in developing board support packages (BSPs) and low-level software for its next generation of embedded products.

This is a hands-on, hardware-proximal role focused on enabling new platforms, building robust BSPs, and delivering reliable system performance on ARM-based architectures. You’ll work across device drivers, kernel configuration, and hardware bring-up, shaping how new boards and features are supported from the ground up.

You’ll collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and wider engineering teams, contributing across the full software lifecycle and ensuring production-ready embedded solutions., Develop, maintain, and optimise low-level device drivers for ARM-based platforms.

  • Lead BSP development, hardware enablement, and board bring-up activities.
  • Design and implement Embedded C software for constrained environments.
  • Own and enhance bootloader functionality and early system initialisation.
  • Configure, integrate, and debug the Linux kernel for new and existing platforms.
  • Build, customise, and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering to resolve issues early and ensure smooth integration.

Requirements

Strong experience in embedded software development within engineering or technology environments.

  • Proven background in BSP development, device drivers, bootloaders, and kernel-level work.
  • Solid understanding of Yocto, build systems, and Linux internals.
  • Confident working with ARM processors, toolchains, and debugging tools.
  • Analytical, detail-focused, and able to collaborate effectively across functions., Degree or equivalent experience in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience with BSPs, Linux kernel development
  • Yocto is highly advantageous.
