Job description
This engineering position focuses on developing and integrating device platforms with cloud management systems for wireless edge and IoT devices. It involves designing scalable solutions to enable seamless provisioning, reliable telemetry reporting, efficient software updates, and consistent performance across Tier-1 carrier networks globally. The role requires close collaboration across cross-functional teams to drive connectivity, interoperability, and deployment readiness from development through production stages.
Responsibilities
- Build and extend middleware, APIs, and services connecting wireless edge devices to cloud management platforms.
- Perform provisioning, configuration templating, telemetry ingestion, and firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) updates for a diverse device portfolio.
- Implement, extend, and debug device management protocols, including TR-069, TR-369 (USP), and SNMP.
- Develop systems software and write production code in C/C++, Go, or Python on embedded and Linux server environments.
- Conduct end-to-end integration and regression testing in a dedicated lab environment, simulating real-world network conditions and device scenarios.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, analyzing device logs, packet captures, and performance telemetry.
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams and partners through design reviews, interface definitions, and root-cause analysis of integration defects.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including interface control documents, API specifications, and test plans to ensure scalability.
- Drive performance and diagnostics improvements to address latency, throughput, connection stability, and standards compliance.
- Support carrier certification processes and acceptance testing with Tier-1 operators globally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields.
- Three to five years of professional experience in software engineering within telecommunications, networking, or embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, IP routing, and experience working with Linux environments.
- Proven proficiency in C/C++, Go, or Python programming for embedded or server-side systems.
- Working knowledge of cellular networking standards, including 5G NR, LTE, and 3GPP architectures.
- Strong protocol debugging skills, with hands-on experience using Wireshark, GDB, and similar diagnostics tools.
- Familiarity with remote device management protocols such as TR-069, TR-369 (USP), and SNMP.
- Experience with embedded Linux, CPE/router firmware, and cellular modem integrations (Qualcomm, MediaTek).
- Knowledge of REST and gRPC API design, and back-end IoT or cloud device management platforms.
- Experience with carrier certification and acceptance testing with Tier-1 network operators (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, international equivalents).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and RF lab exposure equipment.
- Ability to lead end-to-end device, network, and cloud integration efforts with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for firmware, hardware, and carrier interoperation issues.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-team technical reviews and root-cause analysis.
