FaithNet Associate

The FaithNet Associate will facilitate mental health education for Jewish faith leaders and their communities, empowering them to integrate mental health awareness into their spiritual practices and cultivate compassionate, inclusive environments that promote emotional well-being and community resilience. The Jewish Community Outreach Associate will help expand awareness and participation in NAMI’s FaithNet program through culturally tailored outreach and engagement. This position is dedicated exclusively to outreach within the Jewish community. Responsibilities include community engagement, seminar support, outreach tracking, and partnership-building aligned with the deliverables of the JSV grant. This role is crucial for increasing visibility of mental health resources, reducing stigma, and connecting Jewish community members to NAMI’s support programs. The FaithNet Associate will report to the FaithNet Coordinator., The FaithNet Associate performs a wide range of duties, including but not limited to the following. They must *

• Conduct outreach to Jewish Synagogues, cultural organizations, community associations, small businesses, and Jewish media outlets.
• Build trusted relationships with Jewish community leaders to support stigma reduction efforts.
• Attend and represent NAMI-SCC at Jewish community events, health fairs, and cultural gatherings.
• Comfortable delivering outreach presentations- both online and in person- to diverse audiences, including faith leaders, family, and community members.
• Must be available to work weekday evenings and weekends to meet the needs and schedules of the faith community.
• Skilled in connecting, building, and maintaining respectful, trust-based relationships with faith communities.
• Demonstrates cultural humility and sensitivity when engaging with diverse populations around mental health topics, ideally with prior experience in faith-based or multicultural settings.
• Support faith communities in becoming Mental Health Friendly, Stigma-Free Certified congregations by working under the guidance of the FaithNet Program Coordinator.
• Respond promptly and professionally in all communications with faith leaders, colleagues, and community partners.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving locally for event-related errands and transport of materials.
• Distribute the FaithNet brochure & materials to recruit faith communities in becoming mental health stigma-free Congregations.
• Monitor the progress of faith communities as they complete tasks outlined in the FaithNet brochure, ensure the FaithNet Program Coordinator is included in all related communications, and transition the certification process to the coordinator for final review and approval.
• Record and maintain the program-related information (hard and electronic) according to NAMI-SCC data management protocols.
• Wear the NAMI badge and blue shirt at events or whenever representing NAMI-SCC.
• Attend the mandatory weekly team meetings in addition to required training and one-on-ones with the supervisor.
• Maintain an accurate record of their outreach activities on their timesheets and provide weekly reports to the program coordinator.
• Obtain prior approval for any expenses before making purchases or commitments.
• Adhere to and support the implementation of NAMI-SCC policies and procedures., + Build relationships: establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
• Communicate effectively: speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
• Team collaboration: Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment by working closely with colleagues and the supervisor to achieve community engagement and program goals.
• Take initiatives: Recognize priorities and exercise sound judgment in completing assigned tasks, seeking guidance when needed to ensure timely and effective community outreach efforts.
• Solve Problems: Identify day-to-day challenges in outreach and engagement activities, gather relevant information, and contribute ideas or recommendations to improve processes and participant experiences.

• AA degree or equivalent experience
• Completion of a NAMI Family-To-Family or Peer-To-Peer education class (required), + Lived experience with mental health challenges (self or family)
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills
