Job description

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Embedded Firmware Engineer on behalf of our client in the Oshkosh Area, WI. This is an exciting opportunity for mid- to senior-level engineers to develop production embedded firmware for advanced commercial equipment used across a wide range of industries. The ideal candidate will have strong embedded C development skills, hands-on experience with microcontrollers and hardware peripherals, and the ability to troubleshoot firmware directly on physical hardware. Senior-level candidates should also bring experience with communication protocols, RTOS environments, and industry-standard development and debugging practices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded C firmware for electronic control systems. Develop firmware for commercial washers, dryers, tumblers, and related equipment. Work hands-on with UART, I2C, SPI, ADC, PWM, EEPROM, and interrupt timers. Debug firmware on real hardware using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, and other laboratory equipment. Support prototype and pilot builds through production. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, laboratory teams, and other cross-functional engineering groups. Analyze and resolve firmware and hardware-related issues. Follow established software development, version control, coding, and testing practices. For senior-level roles, provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers. Required Qualifications

Requirements

Strong proficiency in embedded C. Hands-on experience working with microcontrollers and hardware peripherals. Experience with Git or similar version-control systems. Strong hardware and firmware debugging skills. Ability to work effectively in an onsite, cross-functional engineering environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. LinkedIn profile required. Additional Qualifications for Senior-Level Candidates Experience with CAN, Modbus, SPI, and I2C communication protocols. Experience developing firmware in RTOS environments. Proficiency with JTAG and oscilloscope-based debugging. Experience with MISRA-C or similar embedded coding standards. Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership. Preferred Qualifications Experience in appliance, industrial controls, IoT, motor drives, or related embedded systems. Bare-metal MCU development experience. Experience with STM32, PIC, ARM Cortex-M, or Renesas platforms. Exposure to functional safety practices or standards. Experience developing firmware for products that progress from prototype through production. Why Consider This Opportunity? Join an established engineering organization with a strong history of innovation and significant investment in R&D and connected products. This role offers the opportunity to work on real-world embedded systems where your firmware directly contributes to finished products used by customers worldwide. Engineers will have meaningful ownership of production firmware while collaborating closely with hardware, laboratory, and cross-functional engineering teams.
