Job description

Within the software department, the Sensor Processing group is responsible for the software development of optimal control and digital processing functions within the sensors. This work is performed in multidisciplinary teams alongside specialists in system engineering, functional sensor design, and the design and implementation of real-time systems.

About the job

Within this Sensor Processing group, the complete radar software is developed. This includes several domains such as controlling the radar systems, managing radar transmissions, and processing the digital information stream. The ultimate goal is to detect and classify specific objects, such as aircraft and drones, track them, and display them on an operator console.

The software architecture is designed to be highly modular and supports the development of robust and evolutionary systems. Development takes place in Agile teams supported by a modern development toolchain. The teams themselves are responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the architecture, the development toolchain, and the Agile process.

Requirements

Do you have a passion for technology and enjoy working on radar controls or complex algorithms? Then you might be the person we are looking for. We would like to offer you the opportunity to build a career in the international high-tech environment at Thales.

The requirement is a completed HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) degree in (technical) computer science or a related field. We expect substantial experience (5 years or more) with the programming languages C and C++ and with developing real-time software. Experience with other programming languages such as Java is a plus.

You are creative, open-minded, and flexible, and you can operate effectively as a team player. Additionally, you are results-oriented, show initiative, and communicate clearly. A good command of both Dutch and English is necessary for successful function fulfillment.

Screening Criteria

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in C++ software development
  • Experience with Real-Time Software development
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems
  • Understanding of Mathematics relevant to software development
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Familiarity with build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Maven
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Reskilling possible, but only if the candidate has prior real-time software experience
  • Eligibility for VGB-B clearance and eligibility for Dutch Eyes Only classification

Benefits & conditions

  • A challenging job in a great team within our high-tech, innovative work environment. Includes the freedom for initiative and good ideas.
  • Room for personal and professional growth within our organization, for example in regards to technical, commercial or international skills.
  • A comfortable work space in a modern environment, with a focus on flexibility and the right work/life balance.
  • You can usually work where and when you want, to be able to do your work as well and efficiently as possible. Within Thales we implement hybrid working, where you can, for example, work from home two days a week if your role allows it.
  • A good salary, fitting travel allowance, and the ability to personalize your employment conditions. For instance, you can trade days off for our bicycle plan or company fitness.
  • 40 days paid-time-off per year.
