Job description

We’re supporting a major enterprise technology programme seeking an experienced Azure DevSecOps Engineer to take ownership of cloud platform, release management and deployment activities.

This is a hands-on contract opportunity where you’ll act as the technical lead for Azure DevOps and platform operations, helping drive secure software delivery, automation and operational excellence across a complex cloud environment.

You’ll work closely with development, infrastructure, security and testing teams to build and optimise CI/CD pipelines, improve release processes and ensure reliable, secure and scalable platform services. Why this Azure DevOps Engineer Opportunity

What You’ll Be Doing as an Azure DevOps Engineer

  • Designing, building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
  • Automating build, test, deployment and release processes
  • Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and ARM templates
  • Embedding security controls throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Integrating vulnerability scanning, code quality checks and compliance controls into deployment pipelines
  • Managing releases across development, test, staging and production environments
  • Developing deployment plans, rollback strategies and release governance processes
  • Acting as the primary SME for platform-related activities
  • Leading troubleshooting, root cause analysis and platform optimisation initiatives
  • Implementing monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions
  • Supporting incident management and disaster recovery activities

Requirements

You’ll be a highly capable DevOps or Platform Engineer who enjoys owning cloud platforms, driving automation and enabling development teams through modern engineering practices.

You’ll be comfortable working independently, influencing technical decisions and balancing platform reliability, security and delivery speed. Essential Experience as an Azure DevOps Engineer

  • 5+ years’ experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or Release Engineering
  • 3+ years working with Azure Cloud technologies
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps
  • Proven experience building and maintaining enterprise CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS preferred)
  • Source control management using Git
  • Scripting skills using PowerShell, Bash and/or Python
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics or similar tooling
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices
  • Experience integrating security controls into deployment pipelines
  • Cloud security, identity management and compliance experience
  • Proven track record managing releases within enterprise environments

Desirable Experience as an Azure DevOps Engineer

  • Microsoft Certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-400
  • Platform Engineering practices
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Enterprise change and release management
  • Mission-critical cloud platforms
  • Disaster recovery and resilience planning
