Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Snowflake, DBT, and Sigma Computing to support a new data warehouse initiative.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience building modern data warehouse solutions using Snowflake and DBT, with particular emphasis on Sigma Computing. The successful candidate should be comfortable developing Sigma dashboards and datasets, working with business users, and sharing knowledge or mentoring team members on Sigma best practices.

This role will be part of a small, collaborative data engineering team responsible for building a modern data warehouse that integrates external and enterprise data sources and makes trusted, analytics-ready information available to business users and advisors., * Design and develop scalable data warehouse solutions using Snowflake.

  • Build and maintain data transformation pipelines using DBT.
  • Develop reusable DBT models, including staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
  • Implement incremental models, data quality testing, source freshness checks, and documentation.
  • Develop Sigma datasets, workbooks, dashboards, and self-service analytics solutions backed by Snowflake.
  • Partner with business and analytics teams to translate reporting requirements into governed data products.
  • Help establish best practices for Sigma development, reusable datasets, calculations, filters, and self-service analytics.
  • Provide knowledge sharing, mentoring, and guidance to team members on Sigma and modern analytics practices.
  • Integrate data from external and internal sources into the data warehouse.
  • Design dimensional data models to support reporting and analytics.
  • Optimize Snowflake queries, warehouse sizing, clustering, and overall data warehouse performance.
  • Implement data quality, governance, security, and reliability practices.
  • Collaborate with a small cross-functional data team to deliver the new data warehouse initiative.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake.
  • Strong hands-on experience with DBT.

  • Experience developing Sigma dashboards, workbooks, and datasets.
  • Strong SQL development skills.
  • Experience with modern data warehouse architecture and dimensional modeling.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating multiple data sources.
  • Ability to work directly with business and analytics stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mentor or guide other team members on Sigma and analytics best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building a new or modernized data warehouse.
  • Experience integrating external/third-party data sources.
  • Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Wealth Management, or related industry experience.
  • Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and modern analytics engineering practices.
  • Experience working in a small, collaborative engineering team.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is not simply a Snowflake or DBT developer who has Sigma listed on their resume. We are looking for someone with demonstrable, hands-on Sigma experience who can build solutions independently and help teach, mentor, and enable other team members and business users.

Strong candidates should be able to discuss specific examples of:

  • Sigma dashboards and workbooks they have built.
  • Sigma datasets connected to Snowflake.
  • DBT models and transformations they have developed.
  • Snowflake warehouse/data-modeling projects they have delivered.
  • Working with business users on self-service analytics.
  • Training or mentoring others on Sigma or analytics solutions.

This is a fully remote contract opportunity, but candidates must be able to work EST or CST hours.
