Job description

The Design Engineer will work within the Engineering & Manufacturing department, focusing on creating and optimizing designs that meet functional requirements of injection molded components while ensuring cost-effectiveness and manufacturability near Akron, Ohio.

  • Design and develop plastic components, fixtures, tooling, and production equipment using SolidWorks.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Support new product development and existing product improvements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
  • Design and implement fixtures, jigs, gauges, and tooling to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and develop engineering solutions.
  • Conduct design reviews, testing, and validation activities.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials, and revision control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, including part, assembly, and drawing creation.
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, or similar.
  • Proven experience designing fixtures, tooling, jigs, and custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing drawings, and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
