Job description

  • Lead Architecture Design: Architect and design robust, next-generation software platforms for complex embedded tactical communication devices.
  • Drive AI Integration: Pioneer and implement AI-driven development methodologies to accelerate and optimize the full software development lifecycle.
  • Execute OS Development: Develop, customize, and maintain core software utilizing embedded Linux and Android operating systems.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Guide engineering teams, foster a collaborative Agile environment, and champion technical excellence across the devices team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Deep understanding of tactical radio communication protocols, digital signal processing (DSP), and waveform design.
  • Experience with Linux kernel modification, custom U-Boot configuration, and hardware debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Familiarity with Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) customization or Android HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) development.
  • Strong background in automated test environments, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and DevOps workflows
  • Leadership: 2+ years of experience acting as technical lead.
  • Core Languages: Expert-level proficiency in C and modern C++ for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded environments.
  • Operating Systems: Proven hands-on track record developing embedded software architectures utilizing Linux and Android distributions.
  • AI Tooling: Practical experience integrating generative AI or AI-assisted development tools within a professional software environment.

Benefits & conditions

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York and Virginia (outside of Greater D.C. area) is $117,000 to $218,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
