Job description

We are seeking an exceptional Technical Product Manager, Chemistry IT Systems, to join our team in Beerse, Belgium or Spring House, Pennsylvania. Our Business Technology team delivers leading-edge technology solutions that advance J&J Innovative Medicine’s molecule discovery organization. As a strategic information technology partner, the team supports key scientific functions across medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, analytical chemistry, DMPK, discovery data sciences, computational sciences, screening, and compound logistics., Team members partner directly with business stakeholders to analyze business processes, define scientific IT requirements, and build strong partnerships across research and business technology groups. Through these collaborations, the team delivers complex, cross-site, multidisciplinary projects and programs that create meaningful impact across discovery sciences.

In this Technology Product role, the successful candidate will help shape and deliver enterprise-wide discovery informatics platforms that modernize and support lead discovery and optimization across multi-modality research. The role will enable data-driven, AI-augmented discovery workflows across Design-Make-Test-Analyze cycles by translating scientific needs into scalable technology capabilities, integrated data flows, and product roadmaps. The role focuses on applying best-in-class technology to design high-performing platforms that help business partners pursue scientific opportunities that were previously out of reach., * Discovery Informatics Strategy and Delivery

  • Contribute to the global delivery of cheminformatics and broader discovery informatics platforms for the Innovative Medicine research organization.
  • Define, evaluate, implement, and champion new data-driven and scientific IT approaches across discovery sciences globally.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to modernize chemistry-centric decision-making through advanced digital capabilities.
  • Portfolio and Product Leadership
  • Lead and support portfolio strategy for assigned product areas by identifying gaps, overlaps, retirement opportunities, and performance improvement recommendations.
  • Define project goals, manage risks and budgets, and ensure measurable impact through effective execution and post-project evaluations.
  • Evaluate and communicate the strengths and weaknesses of business processes, identify new business requirements, and develop change strategies that improve information systems, procedures, and stakeholder outcomes.
  • AI, Data, and Technology Enablement
  • Understand the global deployment of AI and machine learning capabilities for molecular invention, including AI-enabled search experiences that allow chemists to retrieve information using natural-language prompt statements and emerging AI agent capabilities that proactively surface relevant information, support workflow automation, and enable alert-based notifications.
  • Apply a strong understanding of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, data integration, and lifecycle management.
  • Support technology adoption and change management across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Engagement
  • Lead cross-site, multidisciplinary projects with internal and external partners.
  • Promote team member engagement and commitment while ensuring clear, effective communication between researchers, developers, and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’sis required preferably in Chemistry or relevant life science or data science field of study.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in pharmaceutical R&D molecular discovery with strong exposure to small molecule, peptide and large molecule chemistry research.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with scientific stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional partners to define requirements and deliver informatics or scientific IT solutions.
  • Candidates should have Data base management to be able effective engage with Cheminformatics teams, architects, and external vendors supporting solutions across multiple applications. Strong technical expertise would be a significant advantage, enabling the individual to provide informed guidance and contribute strategically to solution design and implementation.
  • Experience with pipelining applications such as KNIME or Pipeline Pilot.
  • Experience with commercial chemistry software providers such as Schrödinger, BIOVIA, Revvity, OpenEye, ChemAxon, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with open-source chemistry or cheminformatics applications such as RDKit or Oligokit.
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Spotfire.

Benefits & conditions

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $102,000- $177,100

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation -120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Condolence Leave - 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member

Caregiver Leave - 10 days

Volunteer Leave - 4 days
