Systems Engineer 5

Designs and develops next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems for space-based platforms. Develops and verifies multi-rate, fixed-point digital signal processing architectures. Allocates, defines, and verifies requirements and interfaces for communication digital payloads. Develops performance and link budgets for satellite communication systems. Conducts performance analysis of signal processing models. Executes payload subsystem trade studies to improve performance, cost, and schedule. Develops prototype demonstrations on communication subsystem testbeds. Plans unit-level integration and performance simulations. Supports ASIC and FPGA level system design and verification. Supports hardware procurement, design reviews, and unit sell-offs.

Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR). Bachelor’s degree with 14 or more years’ experience, Master’s degreee with 12 or more years’ experience or PhD with 9 or more years’ experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.6+ years of experience with signal processing or image processing. 10+ years of experience with electronic systems engineering. Preferred: Master’s degree in signal processing or algorithm development focus. Preferred: Development of algorithms for hardware implementation on ASICs or FPGAs. Preferred: Digital Signal Processing based classes, projects, or work experience. Preferred: Simulink experience in work or school. Preferred: Python, C++, or other programming languages for algorithm development. Preferred: 14+ years related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience., Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) to comply with ITAR regulations.
