Job description

We are hiring Data Center Technicians with early-stage experience in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or electrical installation environments. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for individuals who have gained foundational field experience and are ready to grow their technical skills through hands-on work and mentorship. Technicians will support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems, infrastructure hardware, and data center equipment across multiple project locations. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to building a long-term career in the industry., * Perform structured cabling installations, including fiber and copper cable rough-in, routing, and dressing.

  • Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling with moderate supervision.
  • Rack and stack network equipment, including server builds and rack elevations.
  • Install infrastructure hardware such as ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related components.
  • Read and follow basic blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation.
  • Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installation into data center environments.
  • Receive, organize, and stage materials and equipment.
  • Assemble hardware components and support project deployment activities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized worksite.
  • Communicate professionally with team members, project leads, and supervisors.
  • Travel to project locations as required to support installation activities and business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a data center, structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, or commercial electrical environment preferred.
  • Cabling experience strongly preferred; candidates with electrical apprentice experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with cable types, termination practices, and basic testing tools.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and schedules of up to 6-7 days per week and 10-12 hours per day based on project demands.
  • Must be willing to work across multiple project locations and travel as needed to support projects outside the local market and outside of Texas when required.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving items up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Must possess basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel or composite toe work boots.
