Job description

Network technician responsible for standard install and validation tasks for data center network devices, escalating complex issues and supporting L2 leadership during turn-up., * Rack/stack network devices, install optics, patch copper/fiber to spec, and perform basic power/console checks under runbooks.

  • Execute standard configuration steps (where authorized): hostname/IP basics, interface enablement, VLAN assignment, and simple connectivity validation.
  • Perform physical layer troubleshooting: verify patching, swap optics/patch cords, check link lights, and confirm labeling/port mapping.
  • Support acceptance test and documentation: capture serials, photos as required, and update port maps in the system of record.
  • Maintain clean, serviceable cable management and ensure ESD-safe handling of equipment.

Requirements

  • Foundational CCNA-aligned knowledge: IP addressing, VLANs, basic switching, and troubleshooting approach.
  • Competence with fiber and copper patching, basic optics handling, and connector cleaning practices.
  • Ability to read rack elevations, port maps, and follow step-by-step runbooks accurately.
  • Comfort with console access (RJ45/USB-serial), basic CLI navigation, and log capture.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to escalate with clear evidence (what was tested, results).

Certifications / Training:

  • Preferred: CCNA (or in progress) or equivalent.
