Job description

We move fast, automate aggressively, modernize legacy systems, build internal tools, secure critical infrastructure, and solve real operational problems across the organization. One day you might be troubleshooting a network issue, the next you could be developing an internal application, improving cybersecurity visibility, building reports and dashboards, automating workflows, or helping design new infrastructure.

This role is designed for someone who does not want to be boxed into a single specialty.

If you enjoy learning across multiple areas of technology, taking ownership of projects, and working in an environment where your ideas can actually shape the direction of systems and operations, this is the kind of opportunity that is difficult to find in government.

You will work directly with modern infrastructure, cloud services, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity platforms, databases, automation tools, and internally developed applications that support critical public services.

Work Environment & Flexibility

We believe strong technical teams perform best when they are trusted and empowered. This role offers a flexible and collaborative work environment focused on outcomes, continuous improvement, and professional growth. The Technology Services team values initiative, creativity, and adaptability over rigid bureaucracy.

Our environment combines the stability and mission-driven nature of government with the mindset of a modern technology organization. We are constantly improving systems, refining processes, and looking for better ways to serve both internal staff and the public through technology.

What You’ll Work On

  • Network infrastructure and troubleshooting
  • Cybersecurity operations and hardening
  • Application support and integrations
  • Internal software and automation development
  • SQL databases and reporting solutions
  • Virtualization and server infrastructure
  • Cloud platforms and identity systems
  • Scripting and workflow automation
  • End-user problem solving and operational improvements
  • Researching and implementing emerging technologies
  • Cross-department technical consulting and project work

Technologies You May Touch

  • VMware / Omnissa virtualization platforms
  • Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Azure / Entra ID / Microsoft 365
  • SQL Server and reporting platforms
  • Networking technologies, including switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls
  • PowerShell, SQL, Swift, JavaScript, or other scripting/development languages
  • Cybersecurity and monitoring platforms
  • Cloud infrastructure and automation tooling
  • Mobile device management and endpoint platforms

You are not expected to already know everything listed above. Curiosity, adaptability, and technical problem-solving matter more than checking every box.

About the company

This position supports technology systems that help power essential public services for the citizens of Flagler County.

Our team operates more like a modern technology company than a traditional government IT department. We move quickly, encourage experimentation, automate repetitive work, and constantly look for better ways to improve systems and public services. At the same time, we balance that mindset with the stability, professionalism, and mission-driven focus expected in government.

The culture is collaborative, flexible, and highly hands-on. People here are trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas, and work across multiple areas of technology rather than being siloed into one narrow responsibility.
