Job description
Candidates should have reliable transportation and the flexibility to report to different sites based on project needs. Responsibilities
- Install, route, dress, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling in a data center environment
- Perform structured cabling installation and support
- Install and work within racks, cabinets, ladder rack, cable tray, and other pathway systems
- Assist with rack-and-stack activities and installation of data center equipment
- Perform copper and fiber terminations as required
- Install and work with fiber assemblies, including LC and MPO/MTP connections
- Label cabling, equipment, racks, and pathways according to project standards
- Perform basic copper and fiber testing and troubleshooting
- Maintain proper cable management and workmanship standards
- Read and follow prints, floor plans, work packages, and installation instructions
- Follow all site-specific safety, security, and data center procedures
- Work effectively with Leads, Project Managers, and other technicians to meet production and quality expectations
Requirements
- Previous low-voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center experience
- Experience with copper and fiber optic cabling
- Familiarity with data center racks, cabinets, pathways, and cable management
- OSHA 10 certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an active data center environment
- Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform the physical requirements associated with low-voltage installation
- Reliable transportation
- Must be flexible and willing to travel between Ashburn, Sterling, Manassas, and Leesburg, VA as project needs dictate
- Must comply with all customer background, security, and badging requirements
IMPORTANT Previous AWS Experience / Badging Candidates must disclose immediately if they have previously worked at an AWS facility or have ever been issued an AWS badge. If you have previously worked for or supported a project at AWS, please provide that information during the initial screening process. Previous AWS access may require a name check and/or badge deactivation/reactivation before starting the project. Prior AWS experience or badging does not necessarily disqualify a candidate, but it must be identified prior to submission to avoid onboarding or start-date delays. Information Required for Submission Please be prepared to confirm:
- Previous data center experience
- Copper and fiber experience
- OSHA 10 status, if currently certified
- Previous AWS experience, if applicable
- Whether you have previously held an AWS badge
- Ability and willingness to support all four Northern Virginia locations as needed
