Job description

The Senior Software Engineer is a key technical contributor responsible for the design, development, enhancement, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based software applications within a mission-critical data and analytics platform. This role supports DevSecOps integration, platform modernization, and ongoing operations to meet the needs of a federal defense environment. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting the Data & Analytics Platform.
  • Develop and enhance web-based applications, APIs, microservices, and data-driven solutions.
  • Support Agile software development and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Integrate software solutions with cloud-hosted platforms, databases, ETL pipelines, and analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with architects, data scientists, and DevSecOps engineers to implement platform enhancements.
  • Develop reusable code, automation scripts, and deployment packages.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and automated testing activities.
  • Participate in code reviews and software quality assurance activities.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support operations and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements including RMF controls, STIG compliance, and secure coding practices.
  • Prepare technical documentation, release notes, design artifacts, and software implementation documentation.
  • Support technical demonstrations, platform modernization initiatives, and future capability enhancements., * Must comply with cybersecurity policies including RMF controls and STIG compliance.
  • May be required to participate in key personnel technical demonstrations.
  • Work involves mission-critical defense-related software systems.

Scheduling:

  • Work schedule aligned with federal government and defense contracting standards.
  • May require flexibility to support operations and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of cloud-native application development experience.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, APIs, and data analytics platforms.
  • Strong demonstration and communication skills for technical presentations.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred, or eligibility for clearance.
  • Experience in US Navy, DoD, or Federal environments.
  • Proficiency with modern software frameworks such as .NET, Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Experience with REST API development and integration.
  • Cloud development experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, Cloud One, or similar.
  • Knowledge of container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
  • Familiarity with Git-based source code repositories.
  • Database development and integration skills with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Department of Defense (DoD) software engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting analytics, reporting, AI/ML, or data platform environments.
  • Experience operating within RMF-controlled environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise modernization initiatives.
