Job description

The Senior Applications Engineer (PREA & AWS Platform Lead) is a technical lead responsible for supporting and enhancing the PREA Online Audit System and managing related AWS platform services. This role involves application development, cloud infrastructure management, automation, monitoring, and operational support to ensure system performance, security, and reliability. Responsibilities:

  • Support and enhance PREA Online Audit System capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain application functionality and workflow enhancements.
  • Manage AWS-based infrastructure services and platform integrations.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and operational dashboards.
  • Support system performance tuning and optimization initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and support issue resolution.
  • Manage application releases and deployment activities.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and security configurations.
  • Maintain technical documentation and knowledge-management artifacts., * May require adherence to security and compliance standards relevant to federal systems.
  • Responsibilities include vulnerability remediation and security configuration management.

Scheduling:

  • Standard work schedule with potential on-call or incident response duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of application development experience.
  • Experience supporting cloud-native applications.
  • Experience supporting production systems in AWS environments.
  • Proficiency with PHP, Apache, MySQL.
  • Experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, CloudWatch, SNS, S3, VPC, Kinesis Firehose, and Systems Manager.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience supporting Federal government applications.
  • Familiarity with security and operations tools such as Tenable.io and ClamAV.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and incident management tools.
