Job description

What you’ll Be Doing: Vagaro is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to building and scaling the backend systems that power Vagaro’s platform. You’ll directly influence performance, reliability, and scalability, enabling seamless experiences for thousands of businesses and their customers. **** This role is based onsite in Pleasanton, CA Monday through Friday, + Develop and maintain web applications using C# , ASP.NET Core , and modern frontend technologies.

  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs to support web applications and internal tools.
  • Work with senior engineers to design, develop, test, and deploy new features.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to turn requirements into working software.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards.
  • Assist in designing and optimizing database queries and data models using SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Learn and apply secure authentication and authorization practices (OAuth, JWT, session-based authentication).
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues across both frontend and backend components.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and team best practices.
  • Write unit and integration tests to help ensure application reliability.
  • Assist with deploying and monitoring applications in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
  • Continuously learn new technologies and contribute ideas to improve our applications and development processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 -3 years of professional software development experience (internships and personal projects are welcome).
  • Experience with C# and ASP.NET Core through work, internships, or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript , and a modern frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue is a plus).
  • Basic understanding of RESTful API development and web application architecture.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases (such as SQL Server) and an understanding of relational database concepts.
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of asynchronous programming (async/await).
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn modern software development practices and build high-quality applications. Nice to Have

  • Experience with Azure or AWS through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with authentication technologies such as OAuth or JWT.
  • Experience building personal projects, open-source contributions, or portfolio applications.
  • Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing.
  • Understanding of Agile development practices.
