We are partnered with a Barcelona-based space technology company developing an affordable, recurrent, high-resolution thermal imaging constellation.Their mission is to deliver a new perspective on Earth’s changing resources, enabling advanced environmental monitoring and resource management at global scale.AsSpace Systems Engineering Manager , you will lead the design, development, integration, and validation of satellite payloads across the current constellation and future missions.You will manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and developers, ensuring the delivery of high-performance space systems and reliable imaging products from concept through operations.This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical ownership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver missions into orbit and scale the company’s space capabilities.Key Responsibilities:Lead the Space Systems Engineering function across all mission phases: design, analysis, integration, testing, launch, and operations Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high technical standards and on-time delivery Own end-to-end payload and system development, from early concept through in-orbit operations Work closely with Software, Firmware, Remote Sensing, Payload, and Operations teams to ensure seamless system integration Lead R&D initiatives, technical proposals, and launch planning in close collaboration with the CTO Support business development and sales activities by translating customer, partner, and supplier needs into technical requirements Drive innovation by researching new technologies, proposing prototypes, and advancing system architectures, calibration methods, and operational concepts Ensure robust project execution through strong documentation, agile workflows, and adherence to internal standards and best practices Contribute to technical publications, company articles, and the development of internal procedures and specification manuals Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline Several years of experience in satellite and/or payload systems engineering, including full mission lifecycle delivery Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams within a space environment Strong knowledge of satellite subsystems and payload technologies (power, communications, AOCS, propulsion, EO payloads, etc.) Hands-on experience in manufacturing, integration, and testing of payloads or satellite platforms Expertise in system verification, validation, and environmental testing (vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal vacuum, EMC) Experience with AIV processes and ground support equipment (MGSE / EGSE) Proficiency with simulation and analysis tools such as STK, GMAT, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar Experience with hardware design tools (e.g. SolidWorks or equivalent) and thermal/FEM analysis Strong Python development skills and solid Linux proficiency Practical experience working in agile development environments Advantageous Experience:Experience with thermal imaging payloads (MWIR, LWIR, etc.) Familiarity with geospatial standards and formats (e.g. OGC WMS/WMTS/APIs, STAC, COG) Experience with containerised applications (e.g. Docker) Exposure to cloud architectures supporting image processing pipelines Understanding of imaging processing chains and downstream imaging products If you would like any more information regarding this position, please reach out to Yasmin Hamdy at **#J-*****-Ljbffr
