Serve as the lead technical authority and Senior Systems Administrator for the organization’s enterprise infrastructure. In this vital role, you will maintain operational control of high-consequence systems, provide hands-on technical guidance to IT specialists, and serve as the principal advisor to management on state-of-the-art technologies and system advancements.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Systems Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain complex enterprise systems to guarantee maximum uptime, high availability, and operational integrity.

Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Provide advanced instruction, troubleshooting guidance, and technical support to enterprise system users and fellow IT Specialists.

Strategic Technology Liaison: Interface directly with manufacturers, industry professional organizations, and counterparts at other installations to evaluate state-of-the-art technologies and product advancements.

Executive Technical Advisory: Formulate and deliver strategic recommendations to senior leadership on network integrations, system upgrades, and technical lifecycle planning.

A seasoned systems administrator with deep expertise in managing enterprise-level operating systems, server environments, and virtualized architectures.

A natural mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge, documenting procedures, and raising the technical baseline of the entire IT team.

A forward-thinking technologist skilled at evaluating emerging IT trends and translating technical capabilities into strategic business solutions for leadership., Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Recruitment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance.

Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.

Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions.

Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.

Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state-of-the-art technology.
