Job description
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Data Security Engineer to support the implementation and ongoing operation of data access controls within our Databricks Lakehouse environment. This position will be part of a growing Databricks data security function and will work closely with the data engineers, workspace administrators, and platform engineers to help establish and maintain a secure, scalable, and auditable access model. This is a hands-on role well suited for an engineer with experience in data platforms, cloud security, or access administration.
This position can be performed as a virtual telecommuter, however, fulltime onsite work could be required at some point., * Support implementation of the Databricks access control model.
- Manage data structures, permissions, and tagging within Unity Catalog.
- Maintain security controls for sensitive data, including filtered and masked access.
- Keep access controls managed as code using Terraform and related tools.
- Partner with admins and platform teams to keep access controls aligned across the environment.
- Support audits, reporting, and documentation related to data access.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to engineers on tagging and access requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience, degree in software engineering, data engineering or a related technical field. 3 years with a Master’’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Familiarity with access control concepts, including RBAC and ABAC.
- Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, and familiarity with Databricks system tables, audit logs, and access reporting.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and the use of Terraform.
- Familiarity with cloud IAM concepts such as groups, roles, policies, and service principals in AWS.
- Experience supporting data classification, data governance, or data tagging.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work within established governance and approval processes

- Experience supporting technical or operational aspects of compliance requirements such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR, Access Control, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Unity, Cloud Computing, Data Management, Data Structures, Detail Oriented, Diversity, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), Information/Data Security (InfoSec), Operational Support, Python Programming/Scripting Language, Regulatory Compliance, SQL (Structured Query Language), Software Engineering, Systems Administration/Management, Technical Support, Training Data Sets
Benefits & conditions
Primary Level Salary Range: $113,900.00 - $170,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
