Job description
As a Principal UI/UX and Console Engineer, you will be a highly hands-on technical expert responsible for designing, developing, and optimising complex UI, UX, console, and supporting game systems. You will personally tackle difficult implementation and performance challenges, while also providing technical direction, mentoring engineers, and helping ensure player-facing features are polished, accessible, and reliable across platforms., 1. Hands-On UI/UX Engineering:
- Personally design, implement, and maintain complex UI and UX systems, delivering responsive, polished, and accessible player-facing features.
- Work directly with design and art teams to turn experience goals into high-quality, production-ready technical solutions. 2. Console and Platform Development:
- Actively develop and optimise features for console platforms, supporting porting work, platform integration, and compliance requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve platform-specific issues, ensuring reliable performance and consistent player experiences across supported platforms. 3. Systems and Technical Architecture:
- Build and improve scalable systems for game customisation, in-game editors, procedural content, and supporting development tools.
- Apply test-driven development, robust architecture, and maintainable coding practices to complex technical work. 4. Performance and Technical Leadership:
- Profile, debug, and optimise UI, game systems, and platform performance, personally resolving critical bottlenecks and technical risks.

Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience developing UI/UX, console, and game systems in a game-development environment.
- Expertise across relevant game-engine and custom-engine development environments.
- Experience with console porting, platform requirements, and Technical Requirement Checklist compliance.
- Strong knowledge of optimisation, profiling, test-driven development, and scalable software architecture.
- Experience developing procedural systems, in-game editors, game-customisation systems, or Houdini-integrated workflows.
- Excellent technical problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
