Job description

Your new company A major public sector organisation is delivering one of the UK’s largest ERP transformation programmes. The programme will introduce a new Oracle ERP platform alongside a significant HR systems transformation. Having completed the initial design phase, the programme is now entering local design and implementation, with a planned go-live date of February 2028.

Your new role As the ERP Finance Process Lead, you will take ownership of Project Accounting within the wider ERP implementation, acting as the finance lead for this critical workstream. Working within the central finance function, you will partner with programme leadership, finance stakeholders, subject matter experts and business change teams to shape and deliver the future-state Project Accounting model.

You will provide specialist expertise across project accounting processes, including project ledgers, budgeting, forecasting, income recognition, reporting, controls and data requirements. The role will involve translating business requirements into practical finance process and system designs, supporting key design decisions, identifying risks and ensuring successful delivery throughout the programme lifecycle.

This is a highly visible role where you will provide oversight and direction to SMEs and specialist workstreams, whilst supporting senior programme stakeholders with complex finance transformation activity.

What you’ll need to succeed You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience leading finance workstreams within large-scale ERP or finance transformation programmes.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong Oracle ERP implementation experience.
  • Extensive Project Accounting knowledge within complex organisations.
  • Experience operating in ERP, finance transformation or shared services programmes.
  • The ability to translate business requirements into process, controls, data and system solutions.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups across large and complex organisations.
  • Strong programme delivery, risk management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Public sector or government transformation experience.

  • Initial travel to the Manchester office for key workshop and stakeholder meeting.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a major finance and ERP transformation programme.

  • An initial 6month contract with the potential for extension.

Requirements
