Job description

The Lead IT is responsible for overseeing all technology systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT service delivery across a multi-site industrial construction organization. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support office operations, field personnel, and project-based teams. The Lead IT partners with leadership to align technology initiatives with business objectives while driving process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency., IT Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the company’s IT strategy to support growth, operational efficiency, and security.
  • Provide leadership and direction for IT operations, systems architecture, and technology investments.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on technology budgeting, planning, and risk management.
  • Establish IT policies, standards, and governance procedures.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Oversee network infrastructure, servers, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure uptime and reliability of systems supporting office and jobsite operations.
  • Manage ERP, project management, timekeeping, and collaboration platforms used in construction operations.
  • Lead system upgrades, integrations, and technology rollouts.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity programs including endpoint protection, access controls, backup and recovery, and incident response.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry best practices and internal controls.
  • Educate employees on cybersecurity awareness and acceptable use policies.

Support & Service Delivery

  • Manage IT help desk services and support workflows for both office and field employees.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues across multiple project locations.
  • Implement service-level standards and performance metrics for IT support.

Technology for Field Operations

  • Support mobile workforce technology including laptops, tablets, field connectivity, and remote access tools.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deploy technology solutions that improve jobsite productivity and communication.
  • Manage field networking and temporary site technology setups when required.

Vendor & Asset Management

  • Manage relationships with hardware, software, and managed service provider
  • Negotiate contracts and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle management, licensing, and inventory control.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop internal IT staff and/or external partners.
  • Create a culture of responsiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan staffing and resource allocation to support growth and operational needs.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Teamwork?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

  • Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Previous IT experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations; construction or industrial environments strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing both infrastructure and business applications.
  • Experience supporting field-based or remote workforces.

Technical Competencies

  • Network architecture and administration
  • Cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS or similar)
  • Cybersecurity frameworks and best practices ERP and construction software environments
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Mobile device and endpoint management

Leadership Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution

Working Environment

  • Combination of office and field/project site environments.
  • Occasional travel to jobsites and regional offices as needed.
  • Ability to respond to urgent technology issues outside standard business hours when required.
