Data Analysis Diagnostic Tools Ansys

Job description

We develop mechanical solutions for machinery systems in multiple industries. From power utilities to the oil and gas industry, we are proud to improve efficiency and productivity through expertise in engineering dynamics, structures, materials, and fluids systems. Objectives of this Role:

  • Develop fluid or structural solutions for machinery systems using engineering principles, design practices, and engineering software tools.
  • Utilize instrumentation to measure and understand industrial machinery systems, including electronics and data acquisition systems.
  • Interface with SwRI engineers and technicians on projects, including proposals, reports, and meetings.
  • Travel to client sites for field testing.
  • Field testing and troubleshooting of pulsation and vibration problems in piping systems, piping system acoustics, ASME pressure vessel design.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Perform evaluations and analysis of structural and fluid problems of machinery and associated plant systems particularly for the energy industry, measure pulsation and vibration data in an effort to diagnosis machinery performance issues.
  • Perform transient fluid modeling simulations; perform finite element analysis using ANSYS or similar tools; prepare and or run structural and fluid models of fluid handling machinery (compressors, pumps, etc.) and piping systems to identify behaviors, response to inputs.
  • Assist in the development of software and diagnostic tools to enhance data collection and analysis, machinery system modeling, diagnose and solve existing machinery problems and the design of improved fluid handling machinery systems.
  • Conduct laboratory research required by clients and directed at finding solutions and advancements for fluid handling machinery.
  • Collaborate with SwRI engineers to build models, collect and analyze data, write technical reports, proposals and technical presentations.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent Engineering Technology degree field with course work in fluids and mechanical design or a high school diploma or equivalent with 25 years of relevant work experience.
  • 0-5 years: Experience with machinery. Familiar with instrumentation used for laboratory experiments, electronics, and data acquisition systems is desired.
  • Some design experience is preferred.
  • Must have sufficient written and communication skills for the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and presentations. Must be able to work in a team or independently with minimum oversight.
  • Modeling experience with tools such as HYSYS, Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) for fluid modeling or finite element analysis using ANSYS, structural dynamics, AISC structural design, ASME B31.3 piping design, and Caesar II for structural models preferred.
  • A valid/clear driver’s license is required.

Special Requirements: Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
