Job description

The Test Set Engineer II is responsible for designing and developing Thales LRU and SRU test software and hardware (adapters and cables) for automated and semi-automated test systems (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 testing). This role involves executing/analyzing tests and logs for IFEC products, troubleshooting issues, releasing documentation/drawings in TeamCenter, and supporting production and repair operations at Thales, airline repair stations, and contract manufacturers., * Solution Development & Automation: Proactively monitor GSRE performance, build/maintain test automation frameworks, manage HW/SW change orders, resolve defects, and provide test obsolescence solutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with interdepartmental teams (PSE, ISPM, IFE Design Authority) to troubleshoot tools and refine fault-finding capabilities.
  • Communication & Support: Manage stakeholder/customer requests via JIRA, MS Teams, and email. Travel to domestic or international sites as required to support technical issues.
  • Documentation & Financials: Define and release project documents/drawings, define project scope/cost estimates, handle procurement tasks (RFQs, PRs), and lead efforts to lower sustaining and repair costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 6 years of engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience). Ideal split is 50/50 Hardware/Software or leaning heavily toward Software.

Technical Skills

  • NI LabVIEW / TestStand: Strong experience developing and troubleshooting automated sequences.
  • C# / Visual Studio: Solid C# programming knowledge.
  • OS & Scripting: Experience with Linux variations and Windows (7/10/11).
  • Networking & Protocols: Knowledge of Ethernet, USB, RS232, RS-422, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IP/MAC addressing, VLAN, broadcast, and multicast.
  • Hardware & Instruments: Experience with Spectrum Analyzers, Power meters, Audio analyzers, signal/function generators, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of SAP, JIRA, Git/GitHub/Bitbucket, Python, Android, ARINC standards, RF/Digital test techniques, and NTSC TV/audio/video standards.
