Job description

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in manufacturing and Operational Technology (OT) environments to join a critical Operational Security Programme. This role will focus on the engineering, configuration, implementation, and support of infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions across manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Automation Engineers, Onsite Helpdesk teams, project managers, and cybersecurity stakeholders to develop and execute implementation plans that enhance the security, resilience, and reliability of the manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of industrial systems, OT infrastructure, and cybersecurity principles within a production environment., * Design, develop, and execute implementation plans for infrastructure and security-related projects within manufacturing environments.

  • Configure and support OT infrastructure and manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with Automation Engineers and Onsite Helpdesk teams to ensure successful deployment and operational support of solutions.
  • Support the delivery of multiple initiatives within the Operational Security Programme.
  • Implement infrastructure, network, and connectivity changes across manufacturing sites.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation and security improvement activities.
  • Support infrastructure hardening and network segmentation initiatives.
  • Work with key vendors and technology partners to maintain secure and reliable manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical expertise across both OT and IT environments, with a stronger emphasis on OT systems.

Key Programme Projects

The Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in supporting projects within the Operational Security Programme, with primary focus on the following initiatives:

  1. Backup & Recovery Solution (Octoplant)
  • Support deployment and configuration of backup and recovery solutions.
  • Manage Virtual Machine configurations and connectivity requirements.
  • Implement network and infrastructure configuration changes.
  • Ensure system resilience and recovery capabilities across manufacturing environments.
  1. Secure Remote Access Solution (Claroty)
  • Support the replacement of traditional VPN solutions with a secure remote access platform.
  • Configure secure connectivity between OT and IT environments.
  • Assist with implementation, testing, and rollout activities.
  1. Vulnerability Management Platform (Claroty)
  • Support remediation activities arising from vulnerability assessments.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and technical stakeholders to plan and execute remediation actions.
  • Contribute to security improvements and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

Manufacturing & Operational Technology (OT)

  • Strong experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments.
  • Deep understanding of Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure.
  • Experience configuring and supporting manufacturing systems and environments.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between OT and IT teams and technologies.

Infrastructure & Networking

  • Strong infrastructure engineering background.
  • Experience with:

  • Virtual Machines and virtualised environments
  • Industrial network connectivity
  • Infrastructure deployment and configuration
  • Network troubleshooting and optimisation

Cybersecurity

  • Understanding of modern cybersecurity principles and frameworks.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity initiatives within manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of:

  • Network segmentation
  • Vulnerability management
  • Secure remote access technologies
  • Infrastructure hardening
