Job description

We are seeking an experienced Java/JVM Performance Engineer with strong expertise in JDK migration, JVM memory management, garbage collection tuning, and Java performance troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience optimizing Java services across JDK versions and working with AWS cloud environments., * Plan and execute JDK migrations across Java service fleets.

  • Identify and resolve compatibility issues involving deprecated APIs, modules, reflection, security providers, and build systems.
  • Perform heap right-sizing and JVM memory optimization while maintaining performance SLAs.
  • Analyze GC logs and evaluate GC algorithms such as ZGC, G1GC, and Shenandoah.
  • Troubleshoot class-loading, serialization, JNI/native library, and JVM performance issues.
  • Monitor latency, throughput, availability, and service health during migrations and optimization.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and technical leadership to develop migration and optimization strategies.
  • Conduct performance experiments, validate metrics, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Create runbooks, SOPs, technical documentation, and JVM optimization guidelines.
  • Ensure Java services maintain performance, reliability, and availability throughout migration activities.

  • JVM Memory Management & Heap Right-Sizing
  • Garbage Collection Tuning - ZGC, G1GC, Shenandoah
  • Java performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Experience with JDK 17, 21, and 25 migrations
  • Strong knowledge of GC logs, heap utilization, Xms/Xmx, and Metaspace
  • AWS cloud experience
  • Java performance tools such as JProbe, Jensor, OptimizeIT, or equivalent
