Job description

This role requires a professional who brings both deep telecom billing domain expertise and strong software development capabilities. The candidate will be embedded within an agile scrum team, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of an internal platform. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, with a solid foundation in legacy billing systems and the ability to apply modern development practices to drive platform modernization. Key Responsibilities Design and develop billing automation workflows as part of the scrum team from requirement to production delivery Apply billing domain expertise to ensure platform features correctly reflect real-world billing lifecycle scenarios Build and maintain REST APIs for self-service test data provisioning Develop automation components using Java and/or Python Translate billing domain requirements into technical specifications and implement them Identify gaps between current platform capabilities and target state and deliver the solutions Collaborate with QE, DBA, and platform engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Participate in sprint ceremonies planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives Document technical solutions and domain decisions for team knowledge base

Requirements

Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python hands-on backend development experience REST API design and development building and consuming APIs Oracle Database SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, schema analysis CI/CD pipelines GitLab CI, Jenkins or equivalent Database migration frameworks Liquibase, Flyway or equivalent Version control Git branching strategies, code review, merge request workflow Agile/Scrum experience working in a sprint-based delivery team Scripting Python or shell scripting for automation Required Billing Domain Knowledge 5 8+ years of hands-on experience with carrier-grade post-paid billing platforms Deep understanding of end-to-end billing lifecycle rating, charging, invoicing, payment processing, AR, and collections Strong knowledge of usage data concepts voice, SMS, data usage across billing cycles Billing cycle expertise open vs closed cycles, cycle close date logic, multi-cycle data relationships Familiarity with billing execution utilities billing jobs, AR processing, revenue recognition, and bill generation Strongly Preferred Prior involvement in BSS modernization or platform migration initiatives Experience building billing automation platforms using modern tooling and frameworks Cloud platform experience AWS, Azure or equivalent Active use of AI/LLM tooling as a productivity multiplier Experience with container orchestration Kubernetes or equivalent Exposure to data masking or test data management platforms What We Are Looking For A professional who is equally comfortable in a domain discussion and a code review Future-oriented mindset deep understanding of legacy billing combined with enthusiasm for modern development practices Strong work ethic and a genuine desire to continuously learn and improve Collaborative approach ability to work effectively across QE, DBA, and engineering teams Ability to contribute from day one with minimal ramp-up time
