Job description
The Director of Technology provides leadership and oversight for the technology needs of the Catholic school. This position is responsible for ensuring that technology systems, devices, networks, and digital resources are secure, reliable, and effectively support teaching, learning, administration, and communication. The Director of Technology works collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, students, and families to promote the effective and responsible use of technology. The Director also supports the school’s Catholic mission by helping create a safe, respectful, and values-centered digital environment., * Oversee the school’s technology infrastructure, including networks, internet access, servers, wireless systems, hardware, software, and classroom technology.
- Manage and maintain computers, tablets, Chromebooks, interactive displays, printers, and other technology devices.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for faculty, staff, and students.
- Coordinate the setup, maintenance, replacement, and inventory of technology equipment.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, passwords, and access to technology systems.
- Monitor network performance, cybersecurity, data protection, and technology-related safety concerns.
- Implement and maintain appropriate security measures to protect school systems and student information.
- Assist with technology planning, budgeting, purchasing, and long-term technology replacement schedules.
- Evaluate new technology products and services and make recommendations to school administration.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and outside support personnel.
- Provide training and professional development to faculty and staff on educational technology, software, and digital tools.
- Support teachers in integrating technology effectively into classroom instruction.
- Develop and maintain technology policies, procedures, and acceptable-use guidelines in accordance with school and diocesan expectations.
- Promote responsible, ethical, and age-appropriate use of technology and digital resources.
- Support compliance with applicable student privacy, data security, and diocesan technology requirements.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of technology systems, equipment, licenses, and procedures.
- Respond to technology emergencies and system outages in a timely manner.
- Assist with technology needs for school events, presentations, testing, and other activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or school administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in technology support, systems administration, educational technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, wireless systems, and cybersecurity.
- Experience supporting technology in a school or educational environment preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to individuals with varying levels of technology experience.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting student and school information.
- Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and teachings of Catholic education.
- Practicing Catholic preferred, depending on school and diocesan requirements.
- Must successfully complete required background checks, safeguarding training, and other diocesan/school requirements.
