Senior Software Engineer, Helios

As a Senior or Principal Software Engineer on the Managed Service (Helios) team, you will build and own release-defining projects at the intersection of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, and database technology. Helios runs thousands of SingleStore clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP - autonomously deployed, scaled, secured, and healed on top of Kubernetes - operating at the frontier of multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-tenant, low-latency, always-on systems. You will work across the control plane, the data plane, the operator, networking, storage, and the customer portal, with true end-to-end ownership.

Note: This role is open across multiple levels. Final leveling (Senior, Staff, or Principal) will be determined based on experience, scope of impact, and demonstrated technical leadership throughout the interview process.

What You’ll Do

• Lead technical design and decision-making for large, release-defining projects impacting SingleStore’s cloud platform, spanning distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and database technology.
• Design and implement new capabilities across networking, control plane, and managed service infrastructure, including multi-cloud and multi-region architecture, secure connectivity, identity, and storage.
• Solve complex, mission-critical system problems with solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and resilient - covering consistency, availability, performance, isolation, security, and cost across thousands of tenants on shared and dedicated infrastructure.
• Investigate, debug, and fix issues in the cloud - diagnosing elusive distributed-systems bugs, noisy-neighbor regressions, and subtle cross-cloud asymmetries in production.

• Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with distributed systems and cloud services.
• 4+ years of experience developing and debugging system-level software in languages similar to Golang, C++, or Rust (more for Principal).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build highly reliable, high-performance system software.
• Track record of leading non-trivial projects from design through production rollout, navigating ambiguity along the way., * Knowledge of database architecture and operating systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems managed via Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with one or more major clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP), including cloud networking and identity.
• Experience with workflow engines, observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform / Terragrunt).
