Job description

  • Evaluate and optimize the current HPC and simulation server setup
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand usage patterns and requirements
  • Implement best practices for VMWare-based HPC environments
  • Session Stability and Reliability
  • Investigate and resolve user session disconnects and unexpected interruptions.
  • Identify root causes affecting platform stability and overall user experience.
  • Dynamic Resource Allocation
  • Review current compute architecture and implement recommendations for dynamic allocation of CPU and memory resources.
  • Ensure a single user can leverage the full capacity of available resources when required without negatively impacting the environment.
  • Multi-User Management and Scheduling
  • Design or recommend an administrative capability that provides visibility into active users and system utilization.
  • Enable scheduling or reservation functionality to prevent resource contention and avoid users being unexpectedly disconnected when others attempt to access the environment.
  • VMware Access and Infrastructure Review
  • Assess the current VMware deployment and access model.
  • Validate that the underlying infrastructure, configuration, and connectivity approach align with operational requirements and performance expectations. *Architecture Assessment and Optimization

  • Conduct a holistic review of the solution architecture, including infrastructure, virtualization, resource management, access methods, and user workflows.
  • Identify design gaps, bottlenecks, and known defects.
  • Provide recommendations and a remediation roadmap to ensure the environment is properly designed for both current and future usage patterns. Expected Deliverables

  • Current-state architecture assessment
  • Root cause analysis of connectivity and stability issues
  • Recommendations for dynamic resource scaling and user management
  • Remediation and optimization plan
  • Implementation guidance and knowledge transfer
  • Final architecture and operational readiness documentation

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience with HPC infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and performance tuning. This role involves collaborating with our engineering director and their team-who are the primary power users of the system-to assess current configurations and implement improvements for enhanced performance and efficiency., * Proven experience with HPC systems and VMWare

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Availability for short-term, contract-based work
