Job description

Cloud Platform Engineer with deep expertise in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering to support the design, development, operation, and documentation of the cloud platform powering off-road autonomous vehicle systems. This platform ingests high volumes of sensor and telemetry data, processes it in real time, and feeds results back into vehicle intelligence. The engineer will both architect scalable AWS infrastructure and write the production code that ties it together, in support of CNH engineering initiatives focused on IoT at scale, distributed systems, and developer tooling. The engineer will perform tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform (or CDKTF/AWS CDK), with a focus on reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency across multi-environment deployments.
  • Develop production-quality platform tooling and services in C#, Node.js, and/or TypeScript; this is a hands-on coding role, not solely infrastructure configuration.
  • Architect and operate container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS/EKS) for microservice and distributed-systems workloads that support autonomous vehicle data pipelines.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps) with automated testing and deployment gates.
  • Implement observability and monitoring using DataDog, Splunk, CloudWatch, or similar tools to ensure rapid detection and resolution of issues across distributed systems.
  • Design and integrate data ingestion and messaging infrastructure (Kafka, Kinesis, pub/sub patterns) for high-volume IoT and telemetry workloads.
  • Improve the developer experience by streamlining local development workflows, environment provisioning, and deployment feedback loops.
  • Mentor engineers on cloud-native architecture, DevOps practices, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Timely delivery of cloud infrastructure and platform code aligned with CNH engineering and coding standards.
  • Supporting documentation including:
  • Infrastructure-as-Code modules and environment configuration documentation
  • Architecture and design intent documentation
  • Operational runbooks and incident response procedures
  • Defect, incident, and root cause analysis (post-incident reviews)
  • Observability dashboards, alerting configuration, and CI/CD pipeline documentation
  • Code and infrastructure contributions integrated with CNH’s repositories after internal reviews.
  • Active participation in team meetings, architecture and design reviews, and platform validation efforts.

Requirements

  • 6 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps, with strong software development skills.
  • Proficiency in C#, Node.js, and/or TypeScript, with the ability to write production code rather than glue scripts alone.
  • Deep AWS experience (primary platform); Azure or GCP backgrounds are acceptable.
  • Strong Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code expertise, including the ability to design and maintain complex, multi-environment infrastructure codebases.
  • Linux-native day-to-day proficiency (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, RHEL, Alpine, etc.); primarily Windows-based backgrounds are not a fit.
  • Hands-on container experience (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS), including building, deploying, and troubleshooting containerized workloads in production.
  • Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, load balancing, VPCs, and cloud-native networking patterns.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Preferred: Experience with IoT platforms, edge computing, or autonomous systems; real-time data pipelines and stream processing (Kafka, KSQL, Kinesis); internal developer platforms or platform-as-a-service toolchains; distributed-systems patterns (event-driven architectures, pub/sub messaging, active/active multi-region deployments); databases across relational and NoSQL (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch); and AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
