Job description

The GIS Analyst will play a key role in PG&E’s enterprise GIS modernization initiative by analyzing GIS data, applications, integrations, and workflows supporting migration from Oracle Spatial to PostgreSQL/PostGIS. This individual will be responsible for requirements gathering, dependency analysis, migration planning support, validation activities, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement efforts across the GIS platform transformation program., * Analyze GIS datasets, business processes, applications, services, and integrations to support migration strategy and execution.

  • Conduct data inventory, classification, and rationalization assessments.

  • Identify and document application and service dependencies associated with GIS assets.

  • Develop migration recommendations, prioritization matrices, and validation requirements.

  • Support design and validation of target-state PostgreSQL/PostGIS data models.

  • Perform advanced data analysis, reconciliation, and migration quality reviews.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements and validate migration outcomes.

  • Support modernization of GIS applications, integrations, and workflows.

  • Participate in ETL workflow assessment and transformation activities involving FME and Python-based automation.

  • Create executive dashboards, status reports, KPI reporting, and migration metrics.

  • Assist in defining governance standards, data stewardship processes, and operational procedures.

  • Support user acceptance testing and defect remediation efforts.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and cloud GIS optimization.

  • Provide recommendations supporting future GIS capabilities, analytics, and platform growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of GIS analysis experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.

  • Advanced experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.

  • Strong understanding of relational databases and geospatial data models.

  • Experience performing GIS data analysis, validation, and reporting.

  • Knowledge of SQL and geospatial querying.

  • Experience gathering business and technical requirements.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. * Experience with Oracle Spatial and PostgreSQL/PostGIS.

  • Experience with enterprise GIS migrations or modernization initiatives.

  • Familiarity with FME, ETL workflows, and Python scripting.

  • Experience supporting utility, energy, or infrastructure organizations.

  • Understanding of cloud-based GIS architectures and integrations.

  • Experience developing GIS KPIs, dashboards, and operational reporting.
