Job description

REST APIs connecting web, mobile, and backend services. Manage mobile app releases and store submissions for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Help build and maintain scalable infrastructure that meets HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance requirements. Use agentic coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, and similar) as a core part of your daily workflow to move faster and improve code quality. Collaborate directly with the CTO and product on priorities in a fast-paced, iterative environment. Contribute to code quality, testing, and deployment practices as the team and product scale. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience as a full stack developer. Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and React. Strong hands-on experience with NestJS and Node.js. Experience building and shipping mobile apps with React Native/Expo, including iOS and Android deployment (App Store / Google Play submission process). Solid experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, queries, performance).

Requirements

Demonstrated, regular use of modern agentic AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) in real production work. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, small-team environment with shifting priorities and high ownership. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently. Must be based in or willing to work on-site in the Phoenix, AZ area. Nice to Have Experience building healthcare or HIPAA-regulated applications. DevOps experience, particularly with AWS (deployment, CI/CD, infrastructure). Security operations / application security experience. About the RoleEmpower is building a HIPAA- and SOC 2-compliant healthcare platform and the underlying infrastructure to support it at scale. We’re looking for a full stack web and mobile developer to join a small, fast-moving team and work directly under our CTO. You’ll own features end to end from database schema to API to the web and mobile clients that ship them while helping build a product that meets the security and compliance bar healthcare demands. We move quickly, ship often, and lean heavily on modern AI-assisted coding tools to build faster without cutting corners. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership and is comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and a startup pace. What You’ll Do Work directly under the CTO to design, build, and ship features across our Next.js web app, NestJS/Node backend, and React Native (Expo) mobile app. Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations for a healthcare data platform.
