Job description
The Application Engineer - Workday Payroll is responsible for delivering functional and technical expertise across Workday Payroll and related HCM modules. This role supports system configuration, integrations, and continuous improvement while ensuring reliable payroll operations and data integrity across enterprise platforms.
Responsibilities

Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Workday Payroll and related modules (e.g., Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence, Integrations)
-
Configure, customize, and maintain Workday applications and integrations
-
Support the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including design, testing, deployment, and post-production support
-
Integrate Workday with enterprise systems such as SAP and ServiceNow
-
Translate business requirements into scalable, fit-for-purpose technical solutions
-
Provide production support, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, and performance monitoring
-
Monitor interfaces, data loads, and system performance, ensuring data accuracy and reliability
-
Participate in Agile/DevOps teams, contributing to continuous delivery and change management practices
-
Identify opportunities for process optimization and system enhancements
-
Develop and maintain technical and operational documentation
-
Ensure compliance with enterprise security, data governance, and IP standards
Requirements

Strong expertise in Workday Payroll and HCM modules (e.g., Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Integrations, Security)

Hands-on experience with Workday tools and technologies, including:

Advanced Reports

EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder)

Core Connectors
-
PICOF / PECI
-
Workday Studio
-
Workday Web Services
-
Experience with enterprise integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, SAP, ServiceNow HRSD)

Solid understanding of software engineering principles and SDLC
-
Proficiency in scripting, automation, or low-code platforms
-
Strong knowledge of data integration, transformation, and validation processes
-
Experience working within Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban)
