Job description
Red Arch Solutions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Linux System Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing enterprise Linux environments and supporting storage, backup, security, and patching systems. This role requires hands-on expertise with IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup, and vulnerability management tools, along with a solid understanding of system hardening and package management., 1. Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems in a production environment
- Manage and support IBM Enterprise Storage solutions, ensuring high availability and performance
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Veritas NetBackup for enterprise backup and recovery operations
- Perform system patching and package management using YUM repositories
- Execute and remediate vulnerability scans using Nessus, ensuring compliance with security standards
- Support and maintain STE/STIN processes and environments (as applicable to organizational standards)
- Implement and maintain system security configurations, including NSF frameworks/policies
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for infrastructure upgrades, audits, and incident response
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, or similar)
- Experience with IBM Enterprise Storage systems
- Strong knowledge of Veritas NetBackup (NetBackup Administration)
- Experience with Nessus vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows
- Proficiency with YUM package management and patching strategies
- Familiarity with STE/STIN processes and NSF-related security frameworks
- Solid understanding of Linux security, system hardening, and compliance practices
- Strong troubleshooting and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar), 1. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent certification
- Experience in enterprise environments with high availability and disaster recovery requirements
- Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)
- Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments
