Job description

  • Assess legacy applications, dependencies, architecture patterns, and operational challenges
  • Recommend modernization strategies including refactor, re-platform, re-host, replace, or retire
  • Create future-state architecture blueprints
  • Design transitional architectures that support phased migrations
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align with long-term technology strategy
  • Solution Design & Delivery
  • Translate business requirements into technical solution designs
  • Produce architecture artifacts including:
  • Logical and physical diagrams
  • Sequence diagrams
  • Deployment diagrams
  • Integration maps
  • Support development teams throughout backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery
  • Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability standards are met
  • API & Event-Driven Architecture
  • Define API lifecycle standards and governance
  • Design event-driven architectures and messaging strategies
  • Evaluate integration platforms and streaming technologies
  • Establish monitoring, tracing, and observability practices
  • Architecture Governance
  • Lead architecture reviews and enforce engineering standards
  • Drive resiliency, scalability, maintainability, and performance best practices
  • Prototyping & Technical Evaluation
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes for modernization initiatives
  • Evaluate vendor technologies and platforms
  • Review vendor-delivered designs, code, and documentation
  • Mentorship & Operational Readiness
  • Mentor engineers and junior architects
  • Conduct architecture-focused code reviews
  • Publish reusable frameworks and reference implementations
  • Partner with QA, DevOps, and SRE teams on production readiness
  • Promote continuous improvement and technical excellence

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering and application architecture experience
  • 3-4+ years serving as a Lead Application Architect on large-scale modernization programs
  • Experience designing complex enterprise applications across multiple technologies
